“Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy”

I always thought April was a nice month.

Quotists and poets do not agree with me. As I went looking for sweet gentle sentiments, I found ego, pain, and anger. Who knew?

“April is the cruelest month.”  T. S. Eliot

This year, April is definitely going to do its best to toss us around, so I think these quotes and poems can be thought of as a warning.

“Here cometh April again, and as far as I can see the world hath more fools in it than ever.” Charles Lamb

Have a great April, but stay on your guard.

Always Marry An April Girl
by Ogden Nash
Praise the spells and bless the charms,
I found April in my arms.
April golden, April cloudy,
Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy;
April soft in flowered languor,
April cold with sudden anger,
Ever changing, ever true —
I love April, I love you.
